Merchants on Long Cape Town brimming with creativity in Africa. Since 2010, Hanneli Ruppert has been dishing out the best in the same way a locavore chef does. Savoir-faire and imagination contribute to her successful gathering of the best from the entire continent: quality, colourful, joyful, “Made in Africa” objects, often made of natural materials.
Merchants on Long concept store offers elegant fashions with refined accessories produced with an aim for sustainable development and traceability. A big hurrah to the MaXhosa brand by Laduma that explores the Xhosa culture through graphic printed knits, or the Ghanian YEVU label for its reinterpretation of traditional African fabrics.
On the walls, the black-and-white studio shots of the famous Malik Sidibé of Mali or the fantastic portraits in bright colours, with traditional design borders from the Moroccan Hassan Hajjaj, testify to African life through the ages. On top of all these great findings, Hanneli Rupert added her own production: Okapi bags are also on sale in her London shop.
